Collection: Matuse Inc.

Matuse Inc. is an American company that develops wetsuits and outdoor clothing for men and women. It was founded in 2006 in San Diego, California by Matthew Larson and John Campbell. They wanted to make sustainable wetsuits out of a luxury material called Geoprene, which is an eco-friendly rubber made from Japanese limestone (instead of petroleum-based neoprene). Then they started making other sustainable wetsuits from Geoflex material, where they use water-based adhesives for seams and laminations and recycled nylon and rubber.

One of their wetsuits, the Dante Hydrasilk, was recently named one of Surfd.com's Top Ten Sustainable Wetsuits of 2023

The Czech Matyáš Hilgert (Hiko), who lives half in San Diego and half in the Czech Republic, also plays a significant role in the development of the Matuse brand.

The Matus logo is based on an old Taoist symbol, meaning three solid lines for heaven, three dashed lines for earth, and a circle, representing the constant search for perfection. Matuse's motto is to make all their products "Ichiban", a Japanese term meaning to make everything as good as possible.
